How long things last

- Green Card2 yrs first · 5 yrs renewed
Since February 2025, your first Labourer card lasts 2 years. Renew it with us — one 2-hour test sitting — and your next card lasts a full 5 years. Cards issued before February 2025 keep their original 5-year expiry.
- Blue / Gold / Black Cards5 years
Skilled worker cards are unchanged: valid 5 years.
- HS&E test pass2 years
Valid for 2 years when applying for or renewing a card. HS&E test re-sits with us are always free.
- Your qualificationsForever
NVQ and Level 1 Award certificates never expire. Cards expire; your qualification is yours for life.
Held an old "Industry Accreditation" card?
All grandfather-rights cards expired on 31 December 2024. The only route back on site is a qualification-based card — our fast-track NVQ gets experienced workers there in weeks.
We remind you 6 months, 3 months and 1 month before any card expires. Renewal opens 6 months before your expiry date.
The small print
- HS&E test re-sits are free of charge. NVQ knowledge-exam re-sits are charged separately.
- Every NVQ includes assessment, GQA registration and certification.
- Pay in full or spread the cost: Klarna, Clearpay, Apple Pay, card and PayPal accepted.
The price you see is the price you pay. Your NVQ price is confirmed once you pick your qualification. NVQs are assessed on real work, so you'll need to be working in the trade and able to show it.
